Welcome to A Site for Sore Eyes

My name is Chris Lane.

Thank you for visiting A Site For Sore Eyes.org I'm an Air Force, Disabled Cold War Veteran, not a Wartime Veteran. This site was originally for veterans back in 2010. As time moved on, I put this together for people who want a break from being angry, and a place to smile and maybe even have a chuckle. Life can be amazing after making it through a mental battle. This site is for anyone dealing with anything looking for inspiration. I will have goofy videos, intense topic videos, and inspiration/relaxation videos. When I'm having an off day I switch to my South Park state of mind. Just a little heads up.

So many times I've seen something amazing and never had a camera. It took me until my mom passed. She had some nice collectibles so my wife and I got into the vintage jewelry and nic nac stuff. We started on eBay and moved to Rubylane and I needed a better camera. It had to be something other than my phone, so I found a used Canon Rebel XSi and a couple of lenses. I still have it and it still takes good pictures. I physically couldn't keep up with the work on Rubylane and I found it easier to sit down and take pictures of the outside and of my pets . God Bless the good days of chronic pain and illness. This website is my "level of peace" which I found during my journey through hell and back.

I only have a lifetime of dealing with the side effects of being born an alcoholic. I've summed up "me" as this; a sixty year old non-sexual, with the wisdom of an eighty year old, the spirit of a 33 year old, and the body of a prehistoric amoeba literally in a nutshell. A lot of us have gone through the ringer these past few years. For those of us who made it through any form of hell and back, have our own stories to share. People who need testimonies from surviving the struggles of life are waiting to hear.

When we heal the mind, it will change our lives. A healing mind begins to look at life differently. I needed the Bible and a few Pastors to show me how God worked in their lives. I remember the lessons from the testimonies and how important the step four is in the Big Book of AA. Self-assessment and the acceptance of our denials opens the door to humility and a renewing of our minds.

I am NOT a professional. I have had a lifetime of dealing with the joys of alcoholism, addiction, chronic pain, mental and emotional moments. I've also had moments of deep failures and amazing outcomes in faith. This country needs an emotional reboot. All of the sins in the Bible are forgiven, but the sin committed the most, is treating your neighbor as you want to be treated. Learning how to treat everyone better and forgive those who wrong us, simply says I'm done with the past.

We deserve to have a peaceful life, but life isn't peaceful. Jesus shows us how to seek peace and pursue it, even in the most difficult trials. God knows human nature and he doesn't want life to be hard on us, that's why he gave his son, so we can be forgiven of our sins and have life and have life more abundant. I'm OK with that. God bless

Welcome and enjoy
